Don’t Scratch That Itch

A colleague forwarded me a video from Simon Sinek riffing on millennials in the workplace. (You can catch the full clip here.) It’s not what you think. Although, if you’re familiar with any of Sinek’s work, you likely know where he was headed.  Part way through the conversation, he laid this one on us: “Everything you want, you can have instantaneously. Everything you want, instant gratification. Except job satisfaction and strength of relationships. There ain’t no app for that. They are slow, meandering, uncomfortable, messy processes.”  Truthfully, this speaks to much more than the generation of millennials. It speaks to our […]

What Happened When I Forgot to be Myself

You might not know this, but since we’re all pals around here, here goes.  I coach in an online business program.  It isn’t even my program.  It’s someone else’s.  And I loved it. That is, until I didn’t. When I was asked to be the lead coach in the program, I admit that I was flattered. My ego was stroked a bit, too.  This person, who is the face and brand for the program, was trusting me to run the ship. From start to finish.  As the months leading up to the program dwindled, I dove in head first to […]

How to Prepare for BIG Events

Guess what?  The other day I had my mind blown!  I was not expecting it at all but there I was, sitting in a coaching session with a brand expert talking about my astrology chart.  As if that wasn’t already outside my norm, that’s when she hit me with it – the exact steps I should take when needing an energy boost.  My Vitality Practice, as she called it.  It turns out I gain energy through breath-work, which I had an inkling about.  And learning, which I knew.  But also, talking to people? What the what?!? This introvert was stunned. […]

Get Off the Damn Phone – Here’s How

Want to be more productive? Get more accomplished in your day?  Simply not want to feel so far behind for once? Get off the damn phone! Was that too harsh for you? Well, this concept is something I feel so strongly about that sometimes, I shoot off at the mouth (or shall I say fingertips). But seriously, do you truly know how much time you spend looking at your device, checking emails to see what the latest sale is at Loft, spying on what your fav business guru is up, pondering whether to finally buy that ring light to make […]

My Secret for Doing It All

I hear from many clients how they’ve taken this business course and are a member of that online community. They’ve spent so much money on materials and resources to help them grow their business. And it’s typically followed up with thoughts about how smart they are and how they should be able to do it on their own.  They’re right about part of it – they are smart. But I want to re-write the programming that you should be able to do it all. And if you’re not, you aren’t measuring up to what it means to be a successful […]

OH NO, I’m Locked Out!

The other day, I was at Trader Joe’s doing our weekly grocery shopping. Even though we’re a household of two humans, the cart was packed with all sorts of goodies, from fresh fruit to frozen vegetables and all the refrigerated items in between. I was so proud because it wasn’t even on my list to go to the grocery store until the weekend, but an unexpected gap in my schedule allowed me to cross this to-do off a day early. Woot! And then it happened.  I wheeled the cart over to my car in the 90 degree heat and click. […]
