“Comprise where you can. Where you can’t, don’t. Even if everyone is telling that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say ‘no’, you move.” – Peggy Carter via Sharon Carter in Captain America: Civil War
Okay, that might have been a little dramatic and the context of the quote is in relation to war and espionage (I can’t help it – I love the Marvel movies!).
But you get the idea, right?
When it comes to your business, BOUNDARIES are IMPORTANT.
One of the most valuable tools to have and one that’s constantly tested, I’d argue.
The key is holding them firm when it matters, and knowing when you actually do have the flexibility to give a generous ‘yes’.
People will respect a confident ‘no’ and an excited ‘yes’ so much more than squishy versions of the same responses.
Hone your inner business mentor and find where your boundaries lie.
